My biggest wardrobe pet peeve is the number of dresses I have that are yet to be reworn after their first use — they’re all either too short (college self, what on earth were you thinking?) or too flashy to be seen around town in too often. In my usual fashion, the coolest thing about most of these dresses are their open backs; open-back anything is basically my kryptonite.

The “top” in these pictures is actually one of these many dresses I own. I bought it at Urban Outfitters back in 2012 to wear in New York City when I went to a Broadway show with my boyfriend at the time, and in real life it actually looks like this. It was gorgeous when I wore the dress back then, and when I tried the dress on recently, I fell in love with the turtleneck + open back details all over again! Short dresses aren’t necessarily an outfit go-to for me anymore though, so I decided to get creative. What better way to make it work than by combining it with a pair of ivory wide leg pants? The navy and white make for quite a formal-looking outfit, so it was perfect to wear to a young professionals networking reception I attended this weekend.
