I hope you’re removing your makeup before you go to bed! With so many makeup removal products and methods out there, it can be hard to find the right routine for a cleanse that’s truly skin-friendly. Here are 3 makeup removal mistakes you might be making… and how to fix them, with the help of some of my favorite Olay products:
1. your cleanser is too harsh
I’ll be honest: when I was in my teens, I used to use my body wash to cleanse my face! Now to be fair, I probably wasn’t experimenting with makeup as much as I do now… but still, using super harsh cleansers is a huge no-no when it comes to makeup removal. The skin on your face gets a lot of exposure to harsh elements: pollution, dirt, UVB and UVA rays. It goes without saying that if you don’t care for your skin, it’s definitely going to show. Read the labels of your skincare products, and make sure you’re looking for gentle options that will help maintain your skin’s natural glow!
2. you’re neglecting moisture
So, you’re done washing your face… it feels great, right? Hold on, you’re not done! Right after a thorough cleanse is the right time to apply your moisturizer, because your pores are clean and ready to take in whatever goodness you’re ready to feed it! Again, watch out for ingredients that cater to your skin’s specific needs. While I’m lucky to not suffer from acne and breakouts, I do tend to have dry skin… which my body then overcompensates for, creating a greasy T-zone by the end of the day. I find that a good moisturizer helps my skin to find the perfect balance, and I always gravitate towards products that contain hyaluronic acid… for that extra boost of moisture.
with Vitamin B3, Amino-Peptides, Hyaluronic Acid and Antioxidants, this moisture-binding formula instantly hydrates to improve elasticity and firm for a lifted look.shop
3. you’re treating the skin all over your face the same way
If you didn’t know this already, you NEED an eye cream in your skincare arsenal… and no, your facial moisturizer does not count! While the skin on your face is very fragile in general, the skin around your eyes is even more so it needs a little extra love! If you tend to have puffy skin, dark circles or fine lines… that means you need to give your eyes some extra TLC when you’re doing your skin routine tonight. Lately, I’ve been applying Olay Ultimate Eye Cream, and then doing a 5-minute jade-rolling session under my eyes… and it really makes all the difference in helping me look a lot more bright-eyed and awake!
