Trying an At Home Quarantine Manicure? Don't Miss These 3 Steps

O

Okay, we’ve been at home for at least two full months by now… and the state of your nails is probably proof!

I know that we all love a good pamper session at the salon, but until then, here’s how you can *nail* your at home quarantine manicure all by yourself! Who knows, maybe you’ll love it so much that you won’t even need your next salon appointment 😉Here are the three steps I ALWAYS incorporate into my routine when I’m doing my nails at home, to make for a shiny, healthy and long-lasting manicure (and here’s the Chanel nail color I’m currently wearing – #735 Daydream).

  1. Remove excess oil by buffing your nails with a nail file, and swiping them with acetone before applying any polish. Oily nails causes the polish to peel early, and we definitely don’t want that!
  2. Never skip a base or top coat! I know it can be tempting to jump straight into the color, but the base coat protects your natural nail from staining, while providing a foundation for the nail color to adhere to… and your top coat adds that salon-worthy shine and quick-drying protection you need for the perfect finish.
  3. It can be annoying to wait for your nail polish to dry when you have lots of things to do. My solution? I dip my nails into ice water for 1 minute, and it really helps to speed up the drying process!
